Major League clubs have been informed that the qualifying offer this offseason will be around $18 million, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.

The exact value of the offer could end up being $18.1 million.

Last year's qualifying offer was $17.2 million.

Pablo Sandoval has agreed to sign with the San Francisco Giants.

The Boston Red Sox designated Sandoval for assignment last week.

James Loney has signed a contract with the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Loney will earn $350,000 in his first stint overseas.

The 33-year-old hasn't been able to find Major League employment.

The Boston Red Sox have designated Pablo Sandoval for assignment. 

Sandoval signed a five-year, $95 million contract with the Red Sox after the 2014 season. Sandoval is owed $18 million each of the next two seasons.

Sandoval had an OPS of .622 in 99 at bats this season with the Red Sox. Sandoval was on the disabled list with a knee injury and then an inner ear infection this season.

Sandoval played in just three games with the Red Sox in 2016.

The Texas Rangers may listen to offers for Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels if they don't open the second half of the season with strong play, according to a report.

It had been reported that the Rangers would hold onto Darvish even if they fell out of the playoff race. The right-hander will be a free agent this winter.

Hamels, meanwhile, is making $23.5 million this year and next. His contract also includes a $20 million club option for 2019 with a $6 million buyout.

The Mets say they wanted a reunion with Bartolo Colon, but he has opted for a new home.

The 44-year-old Colon agreed to terms Friday on a minor league deal with the Twins, who would be his 10th major league team over a 20-year career.

"You know he's been around a long time if I've faced him," Twins manager Paul Molitor joked, adding he vaguely remembers getting a hit off Colon in his final game in 1998.
